State Department confirmed the visit of China's Foreign Minister to the U.S.
The U.S. State Department has confirmed that the Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, will visit Washington from October 26 to 28. During his visit, he is expected to hold a series of meetings, according to the U.S. State Department's press office.
"From October 26 to 28, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will host the Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Wang Yi, in Washington," as stated in the U.S. State Department's announcement.
It is further reported that Blinken and Wang Yi will discuss a range of bilateral, regional, and global issues as part of efforts to responsibly manage U.S.-China relations and maintain open channels of communication.
"The United States will continue to employ diplomacy to advance U.S. interests and values, address differences, and make progress on shared transnational challenges," as stated in the announcement.
Visit of China's Foreign Minister to the U.S.
Earlier, several media outlets reported that China's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi, may visit Washington this week. It is stated that this meeting is essential to prepare for a meeting between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and U.S. President Joe Biden.
According to sources, China's Minister of Foreign Affairs will meet with his American counterpart, Antony Blinken, to "prepare for the meeting of the two nations' leaders."
