Starmer says talks with Trump focused on forcing Putin toward peace

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer met with US President Donald Trump. They discussed, in particular, the issue of pressuring Russia into a peace agreement with Ukraine, Starmer said at a joint press conference with Trump.
Starmer emphasized that the recent massive strikes by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine "are not the actions of someone who wants peace."
"So, we've discussed today how we can build our defenses further, support Ukraine, and decisively increase the pressure on Putin to get him to agree a peace deal that will last," the prime minister said.
He also added that Trump showed leadership in the matter of bringing peace closer. Therefore, Britain and the United States will continue to stand together for the sake of security and peace.
Putin does not want peace
Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to obstruct the peace process in every possible way.
In particular, the Kremlin leader has not agreed to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, despite the Ukrainian leader repeatedly expressing readiness for such negotiations.
Russia has also intensified massive strikes on Ukraine in recent weeks, using a large number of drones and missiles.
On the night of September 7, Russian forces even dared to launch a missile strike on the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The missile struck the upper floors of the Cabinet but did not detonate.
