Starmer on Ukraine-Russia talks in Istanbul: Moscow’s position is unacceptable

Russia has shown an unacceptable position during talks with Ukraine in Istanbul, and this is not the first time, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated, according to Sky News.
Starmer said that he, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk held a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. During the meeting, the leaders also spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump.
The main topic of discussion was the ongoing negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul.
"The Russian position is clearly unacceptable, and not for the first time. As a result of that meeting with President Zelenskyy and that call with President Trump, we are now closely aligning our responses and will continue to do so," added the head of the British government.
Unacceptable ideas of Russia
So far, only the media have reported on Russia's demands, citing their own sources.
In particular, Sky News claimed that at the meeting, Russia demanded the withdrawal of Ukrainian soldiers from four regions. This would be a precondition for a ceasefire.
The Economist's Oliver Carroll also noted that during the talks Russia threatened to seize the Kharkiv and Sumy regions.
