Spain training Ukrainian military in technical maintenance of Patriot air defense systems

The news agency based on the General Staff of the country reports that Spain is training Ukrainian military personnel in the technical maintenance of the complex platform of the Patriot missile system.

"The training is conducted by servicemen from command units of Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment (RAAA) from the Marine Corps headquarters, the benchmark unit for this type of weaponry," journalists add.

Air defense systems in Ukraine

Ukraine has received the entire agreed-upon range of air defense systems from Western partners. However, the country needs more systems in terms of quantity. According to the spokesperson for the Air Force, Yurii Ihnat, Ukraine needs more systems like Patriot, SAMP/T IRIS-T, NASAMS to protect the country and the objects that the enemy may attempt to attack and destroy.

In particular, around Kyiv, a multi-level air defense system has been built, consisting of different types of weaponry. However, no air defense system, including the one around the capital, can guarantee complete protection.

In November 2023, it was reported that Ukraine would soon receive another Patriot surface-to-air missile system from Germany. Currently, two divisions of this air defense system are on active duty.
