The new package will include an additional battery of the MIM-23 Hawk air defense missile system. The system is scheduled to be delivered in September.
At the same time, Robles also spoke about the important progress in the training of Ukrainian servicemen in Spain, whose number has reached 5,000.
Umerov thanked Spain for its important and unconditional support.
Hawk air defense system
Ukraine has been actively using the MIM-23 Hawk since the beginning of the full-scale war with Russia.
The American medium-range air defense system MIM-23 Hawk was developed by Raytheon between 1954 and 1960. This system was adopted in 1960 and has undergone many modifications and improvements since then. The US Army operated the MIM-23 Hawk until 2002.
In total, more than 40,000 units of this type of complex were produced. The MIM-23 Hawk is capable of intercepting missiles and aircraft, with a target hit probability of 85% in the I-Hawk modification. The maximum range of the system is 50 km.
Assistance to Ukraine
Czechia will supply Ukraine with approximately 500,000 rounds of ammunition by the end of 2024 as part of its initiative.
The European Union will also send the first tranche of €1.4 billion from the proceeds of Russia's frozen assets to purchase weapons for Ukraine in early August.
