Spain reportedly to transfer 20 Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine
Spain has approved the supply of a new batch of tanks to Ukraine. This concerns 20 Leopard 2A4 tanks, reports Infodefensa.
The material specifies that the tanks, like other materials, will be prepared for shipment at the Santa Bárbara Sistemas factory in Alcalá de Guadaíra, Seville, prior to their dispatch.
Priority weapons for Ukraine
"This new batch of materials may be directly related to the visit of a delegation from the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine to Spain last week for negotiations with representatives of the industry and the Ministry of Defense," the material writes.
Spain's Secretary of State for Trade, Xiana Méndez, stated that the materials being transferred to Ukraine are necessary, priority, and crucial weapons for countering Russia.
"There is no doubt that Ukraine will make the best use of them to protect its national security," Mendez explained.
Tank deliveries to Ukraine
Last summer, Spain already sent a batch of Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine.
Additionally, the German defense conglomerate Rheinmetall promised to supply Ukraine with ammunition for Leopard tanks in the near future.
