American company SpaceX, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, has announced a major update to its Starlink satellite network, scheduled to be implemented by February 2026.

RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to the company’s page on the social media platform X.

As part of these plans, the company expects to launch and deploy up to 10,000 satellites, which will significantly expand global internet coverage and increase the availability of high-speed connections.

Currently, more than 8,600 Starlink satellites are active, with hundreds more at various stages of deployment.

What will change

The key element of the update will be the launch of Starlink V3 satellites, which, according to the company, will deliver a substantial boost in technical capabilities. The power of a single satellite is expected to increase to around 20 kW, enabling gigabit internet connections for users.

Additionally, the new generation of satellites will add over 60 terabits per second of extra network capacity, reducing latency, improving connection stability, and allowing a larger number of users to be served simultaneously.

What is Starlink

Starlink is SpaceX’s global satellite internet system, providing high-speed broadband access in remote areas worldwide using thousands of low-Earth orbit satellites. It allows users to enjoy online gaming, video calls, and streaming even where traditional providers are unavailable.

The system consists of a large constellation of satellites, user terminals (dish antenna, router), and ground infrastructure, delivering low latency and high-speed connectivity.
