South Korean President, who faces arrest, promises to fight until end - Reuters
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol faces arrest after impeachment proceedings, which have been approved by the court. However, he promises to fight until the end, reports Reuters.
According to the lawyer of the suspended president, Yoon, who was impeached, he sent a letter to his supporters. In the letter, he stated that he would fight until the end, as the authorities may try to arrest him due to the brief martial law that was imposed on December 3, 2024.
"I am watching on YouTube live all the hard work you are doing. I will fight until the end to protect this country together with you," he wrote in the letter to his supporters.
As Reuters reports, hundreds of Yoon's supporters gathered near his official residence, protesting against the investigation into him.
Meanwhile, the opposition Democratic Party, which holds a majority in parliament and led Yoon's impeachment on December 14, stated that the letter proves Yoon was deceived and is still determined to continue his uprising.
"As if trying to stage insurrection wasn't enough, he is now inciting his supporters to an extreme clash," said party representative Jo Seoung-lae.
