Son of Russian general linked to Kherson war crimes killed in Ukraine

A Russian Lieutenant, Vasily Marzoyev, was killed in the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region, reports Sergey Menyailo, head of the Republic of North Ossetia.
What is known
In recent days, news emerged of the death of the son of General Arkady Marzoyev, Commander of the Russian 18th Combined Arms Army. Preliminary reports indicate that Lieutenant Vasily Marzoyev "was killed while carrying out a combat mission" as part of Russian forces.
Menyailo said Marzoyev served as Commander of the Reconnaissance Platoon of the 108th Parachute Regiment of the 7th Airborne Assault Division of the Russian army and had participated in combat operations against Ukraine for an extended period. Following his death, President Putin posthumously awarded him the title of "Hero of Russia."

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced an indictment in absentia against five high-ranking Russian military officials, including General Arkady Marzoyev. According to investigators, he ordered strikes on residential neighborhoods, schools, hospitals, and critical infrastructure in Kherson.
In December 2024, Ukrainian special services eliminated General Igor Kirillov, Chief of the Russian Armed Forces' radiation, chemical, and biological defense troops, according to RBC-Ukraine sources. The day before, the SBU had notified him in absentia of charges for the mass use of chemical weapons against Ukraine's Defense Forces.
Earlier, in the fall, Colonel Alexei Kolomeitsev was killed in the Moscow region. He had been training operators of Shahed drones.
