Slovakia urges Russia to respond to US peace proposal

Slovakia has called on Russia to immediately respond to the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár said, according to Euractiv.
Blanár described the recent talks between Ukraine and the US in Saudi Arabia as a significant step toward ending the bloodshed and achieving a long-term peaceful resolution.
"I appreciate the tremendous efforts of the new US administration to broker peace talks in Saudi Arabia, which offer an initial and necessary ceasefire in the military conflict in Ukraine," he stated.
The Slovak minister stressed that the war in Ukraine has no military solution and urged Russia to respond immediately, calling the proposal a "light at the end of the tunnel."
On Wednesday, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said he supports "all peace proposals for a ceasefire in Ukraine". However, he did not specify what exactly he meant.
