Slovakia does not plan to provide military aid to Ukraine in the future, as this does not accelerate the end of the war, reports Reuters, citing Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.

“Slovakia will not be part of any military loan for Ukraine, and we reject further financing, including from the resources of the Slovak Republic, of military needs, because we do not believe in a military solution to the conflict,” Fico said.

According to him, financing Kyiv's military needs does not accelerate the resolution of the conflict.

Earlier, Fico said that his government supports the US peace plan for Ukraine. He also acknowledged that this document is in Russia's favor.

The head of the Slovak government called the US peace plan pretentious and boasted that Russia would emerge from it as the complete victor, strengthened morally and economically. Fico believes that Ukraine should agree to this proposal.

Fico also believes that the current proposal is worse for Ukraine than the plan discussed in 2022, but he still sees it as a chance for an immediate ceasefire on both sides of the front.

Earlier, Fico unexpectedly expressed support for Ukraine's desire to join the European Union, but clarified that he does not support Ukraine's membership in NATO.

Consultations between the governments of Ukraine and Slovakia took place in October. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and the Slovak Prime Minister discussed important issues of bilateral cooperation.

The negotiations took place in Košice, Slovakia's second-largest city in the east of the country, with a population of around 225,000.
