The Slovak state-owned company SEPS has announced its intention to terminate its contract with Ukraine's Ukrenergo for emergency electricity supplies. The Slovak government has already approved the decision, according to Dennik N.

According to SEPS Director Martin Magát, Ukraine last received emergency electricity supplies from Slovakia in January.

He also said that Kyiv allegedly requested emergency electricity supplies after they were banned by the Slovak side, but did not receive them.

It is noted that the request for unilateral termination of the contract between SEPS and Ukrenergo was submitted by the Slovak Prime Minister, Robert Fico.

Background

In February, Robert Fico threatened to stop electricity supplies to Ukraine. These threats came amid a very difficult situation with the electricity supply in Ukraine due to constant Russian attacks.

Later, on February 23, Fico announced that Slovakia was suspending emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine, despite the extremely difficult situation in the country due to Russian attacks.

Later, the Slovak opposition parliamentary party Freedom and Solidarity announced that it would file a complaint with the prosecutor's office regarding Fico's decision to stop emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine.

In particular, MP Karol Galek said that the Slovak Prime Minister was opening a new front against Ukraine on the side of Russia. According to him, the suspension of emergency electricity supplies could have critical consequences.

Druzhba issues

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that Russia had struck the Druzhba oil pipeline. Oil transit to Slovakia and Hungary then stopped.

At the same time, Budapest and Bratislava began to blame Ukraine for everything, claiming that it was Kyiv that did not want to resume supplies for alleged political reasons.
