Fiber is extremely important for the body. Its main functions include reducing cholesterol levels, regulating blood sugar levels, and promoting rapid satiety after meals.

How to increase its amount in your diet explains pediatrician Daryna Vlasenko.

Doctor's advice on sufficient fiber intake

Serve raw vegetables as snacks and add them to salads.

Raw carrots, broccoli, and other vegetables contain more fiber than cooked ones.

Replace white bread with whole grain.

Do not overcook vegetables.

Vegetables should be served crisp. Cooking them until they become mushy destroys most of the fiber.

Garnish salads with seeds.

Poppy, pumpkin, sunflower, sesame, and sprouts. Bean sprouts and alfalfa sprouts also give sandwiches a pleasant and unusual taste.

Add dates and raisins to snacks and cereal.

Do not peel apples, cucumbers, potatoes, and other fruits and vegetables with edible skin.

They are excellent sources of fiber. Popcorn is an ideal snack for those who want to consume fiber, but use only a small amount of oil and salt.

Eat dried beans, peas, and legumes.

Lentils, beans, black beans, white beans, chickpeas, and peas are rich in fiber, as well as vitamins, minerals, complex carbohydrates, and proteins, but have a low-fat content.
