The railway being constructed by the Russians in the temporarily occupied territories leading to Crimea is a significant target for the Defense Forces, according to the representative of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Andrii Yusov.

"This is a serious challenge, a serious threat. Accordingly, for the Ukrainian Defense Forces, this is a significant target. There are plans, but they do not always correspond to reality. The same applies in the Russian case," Yusov notes.

He has mentioned that Russia continues to use the railway as a primary element for supplying its forces. The enemy is not satisfied with what is happening with the Crimean Bridge, as it is not operating at full capacity, so the occupiers are trying to build the railway.

According to the representative of the Defense Intelligence, Ukraine has already begun to counteract such plans. At the same time, our country will try to prevent the Russians from completing the construction of the railway.

"If they still manage to complete it, how long and how effectively will it be able to operate?" he adds.

Railway to Crimea

Back in October of last year, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, revealed that the Russians wanted to build a railway to Crimea deep in the rear.

According to the enemy's plan, it is supposed to run from Rostov-on-Don through the temporarily occupied Ukrainian cities of Mariupol, Berdiansk, and Melitopol near the coast of the Azov Sea - to Crimea.

This information emerged after Ukrainian defenders successfully attacked the Crimean Bridge, disrupting its operation.
