At night before Sunday, fragments of a downed enemy Shahed drone hit a dormitory of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Due to the attack, four students were injured, the official Facebook page of the Kyiv National University reports.
During the night before Sunday, amid yet another air attack on Kyiv, fragments of a downed Russian Shahed UAV fell near the building of one of the university's dormitories.
The debris damaged a gas pipe, causing a fire. Two neighboring dormitories and the university's dining center were also affected.
"There are no victims with burns. Four dormitory residents sought medical assistance for minor injuries, hospitalization was not required," the statement says.
Volodymyr Bugrov, Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, noted that this "gift" for Kyiv Day from "our northern neighbor" is yet another confirmation that there is no talk of any truce or peace.
"The enemy wants to break us, but our response is unity, solidarity, and joint efforts for the sake of victory. We have no other choice. As Kyiv-born Golda Meir said: 'They want us dead, we want to live - so there is no room for compromise,'" Bugrov said.
What will happen to the students
After the premises were inspected by bomb technicians and police, the residents of the damaged dormitory were offered organized relocation. Some students, who experienced severe stress, received support from the university's psychological service.
"At present, the university community, volunteers, and maintenance services are actively working to eliminate the consequences. Cleanup of the area has already begun, and damage is being documented, including students' personal belongings," the Kyiv National University added.
