Seven secrets to help your kitchen table always look perfect

The kitchen table is put to the test every day: water, grease, hot dishes. Scratches, stains and cracks are inevitable if you don't know the secrets of care.
Do not use the table as a stand
Sometimes you may be tempted to stand on the table to reach the top shelves, but you shouldn't. The soles of your shoes can leave scratches and muddy marks, and excessive stress can cause cracks or even breakage of the countertop.
If you need to reach something from a height, it is better to use a special ladder or chair. Remember that the kitchen table is meant for something else entirely.
Use cutting boards
Don't cut food directly on the countertop - this is a major mistake that can ruin its appearance. Knives leave scratches, and the juice from meat, fish, or vegetables can eat into the surface and create stubborn stains.
To keep your table clean and durable, be sure to use cutting boards. They not only protect the worktop but also make it easier to clean up after cooking.
Be careful with detergents
When cleaning your table, avoid powdered products or gels with granules, which can damage the surface. This is especially true for countertops made of plastic or wood, which can lose their luster due to scratches.
If the table is located near the stove, it is important to make sure that aggressive grease and carbon remover products do not get on the table. The acids and alkalis in such products can leave white streaks that are difficult to remove.
Use trivets for hot dishes
Always use special trivets to avoid leaving round marks on pots and pans. High temperatures can leave marks even on heat-resistant materials, and wooden or plastic surfaces can even warp.
It is also worth putting stands for electrical appliances that heat up during operation - toasters, microwaves or slow cookers. This will help preserve the integrity of the countertop for a long time.

Take care of marble surfaces
If you have a marble countertop, it is worth remembering that this material is particularly sensitive to acids. Vinegar, lemon juice, or even red wine can leave stains that are difficult to remove.
If the liquid gets on the surface, wipe it dry immediately and sprinkle baking soda on the spill - it neutralizes the acid. This care will help to avoid discoloration and damage to the stone.
Do not use the corners of the table as leverage
Do not open bottles by pushing on the edge of the tabletop or leaning on the corners with your whole body. This can lead to cracks, chips, or even delamination of the material.
If you have heavy objects, such as stone mortars or wooden knife holders, stick a soft cloth such as felt or flannel on their bottom. This will help avoid scuffs and scratches on the countertop.
Minimize the number of items on the table
The more things you have on your countertop, the faster it gets dirty and the harder it is to keep it clean. Try to store unnecessary items in cabinets, use hanging rails and organizers.
Large appliances that you rarely use, such as mixers or food processors, are also best put away in cabinets. This will not only free up space, but also make the kitchen look cozier and tidier.
