Sending Western troop to Ukraine could lead to WWIII, Italian Foreign Minister says
The possible introduction of Western troops into Ukraine could lead to the start of the Third World War, states the Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
"I don't think NATO should go into Ukraine," he said, commenting on the words of French President Emmanuel Macron about the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine.
According to the minister, he hopes that French troops will not be directed to assist in the war with Russia.
"Going in and making war on Russia means risking a Third World war," clarified Tajani.
Macron's statements
At the end of February, French President Emmanuel Macron did not rule out that Western countries could introduce troops to help Ukraine. However, according to him, there is no consensus on this issue.
Later, the French leader specified that his country could send its troops to Ukraine if Russia again begins to advance on Kyiv or Odesa.
Several NATO countries have opposed this idea, including Germany, Czechia, Bulgaria, Poland, Spain, and Italy. At the same time, there are countries willing to consider such a possibility, including Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
Yesterday, March 14, Macron again made a statement about French troops in Ukraine. He emphasized that such an option is not excluded.
