Security Service of Ukraine shows exclusive footage of today’s prisoner exchange

Ukraine and Russia today, June 19, conducted another stage of a large prisoner exchange. Exclusive footage of the return of Ukrainian defenders has appeared, according to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
The Security Service of Ukraine noted that today’s exchange is the result of the work of the Joint Center for Coordination of Search and Release of Prisoners of War, the Coordination Headquarters on the Treatment of Prisoners of War, and other authorized bodies that carried out the instructions of Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Service noted that Ukraine expects full implementation of the humanitarian agreements reached during the meeting in Istanbul.
Prisoner exchange
Ukraine and Russia conducted a new prisoner exchange on Thursday, June 19. Most of the defenders who were returned had been held captive since 2022.
The defenders who returned home had fought in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kyiv regions. They include members of the Naval Forces, Air Assault Forces, Territorial Defense Forces, as well as the State Border Guard Service and the National Guard of Ukraine.
The Coordination Headquarters on the Treatment of Prisoners of War clarified that a group of seriously ill defenders was released from Russian captivity. These soldiers have injuries and significant health problems.
Human Rights Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets noted that the oldest released prisoner is 63 years old.
Among those freed is also a defender who is celebrating his birthday today. He turned 45 years old.
