Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, stated during a television marathon that the promotion of the election topic in the Ukrainian information space is a Russian information-psychological special operation.

"At first, the Russian Federation launched this information-psychological special operation, and then some media outlets began to claim that it was a demand from our partners. There is no such demand and cannot be, because all these processes are clearly defined in our legislation. When the war ends, if there is no martial law, then we can start talking about it," emphasized the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.

According to him, the issue of holding elections during a war is extremely dangerous because "if agitators enter the trenches, it may end dramatically for our country."

Ukraine elections

Parliamentary elections in Ukraine were scheduled for October 2023, and presidential elections for the spring of 2024. However, as the country is currently under martial law, it is impossible to hold them as it is prohibited by law.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denis Shmyhal, recently stated that our country is ready to consider formats from partners regarding the possibility of holding elections.

At the same time, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that holding elections during a war is prohibited, but the Ukrainian parliament can change the legislation.
