Second Peace Summit could happen in India: Zelenskyy unveils conditions
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an interview with The Times of India, stated that the second peace summit could take place in India. Kyiv is ready to hear proposals from other countries regarding the war's end, but based on the Ukrainian format.
"We talked with Prime Minister Modi. We have a platform, a peace summit. I believe that we could hold a peace summit, a second peace summit, in any respectable capital. Certainly, it could be in India. And the Prime Minister can do this; he can organize the appropriate summit," the president said.
Zelenskyy added that Ukraine needs to prepare for the next peace summit meeting. At the same time, Kyiv wants to hear various proposals from various countries, including China, Brazil, India, members of the European Union (EU), or countries from the African continent.
"For this, we wanted to hear proposals from various countries. And proposals that are based only on our format because the war is ours," the president emphasized.
Peace summit
The Office of the President of Ukraine announced that the second peace summit would take place after agreeing on a joint peace plan, which includes 10 points of the "peace formula" proposed by the Ukrainian side. It was previously expected that the event would happen by the end of the year; however, Russia has repeatedly refused to participate.
Adviser to the Head of the President’s Office Daria Zarivna added that the date of the summit will be announced after a series of thematic conferences planned for the end of October.
As noted by the British Ambassador to Ukraine, Martin Harris, the first summit demonstrated global support for the principles of the United Nations (UN) regarding the end of the war in Ukraine.
More details about the reasons why Russia is avoiding participation in the summit can be found in the RBC-Ukraine material.
