Sea Baby drones strike Russian helicopters and military targets near Crimea
The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) reported conducting a special operation in the Kerch Bay area during the night of December 5–6, during which Sea Baby marine drones engaged in combat with Russian aircraft and helicopters.
According to the SSU, the Russians deployed helicopters, planes, and Raptor-class patrol boats to intercept the Sea Baby group.
“The Russian pilots saw themselves as hunters and expected an easy pursuit, but they became the prey when the marine drones returned fire,” the SSU noted.
It was revealed that the Sea Baby drones were equipped with heavy machine guns featuring ballistic automatic targeting and lock-on systems.
Intercepted Russian communications revealed casualties aboard the helicopters, with both killed and wounded personnel. The helicopters themselves sustained significant damage and require major repairs.
Additionally, the Sea Baby drones struck a barge used by Russian forces to transport military equipment and repair materials for the Crimean Bridge.
Sea Baby marine drones
Developed by the SSU, Sea Baby drones are unmanned maritime devices designed for special operations at sea. These drones are known for their long operational range and capability to carry significant payloads of explosives, making them highly effective for attacking warships, submarines, and other maritime targets.
The Sea Baby drones have already proven their effectiveness in a series of successful operations, including attacks on Russian ships in the Black Sea.
In May, it was revealed that the SSU had also equipped the Sea Baby drones with Grad multiple rocket launchers. These drones have since been successfully used against Russian forces.
