Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar has denied having ties to Russian intelligence. However, the parliament’s security committee appears to have a different view, according to TVP.

Pirc Musar is suspected of ties to Russian intelligence

On August 19, the parliamentary committee requested a meeting with Slovenia’s intelligence agency SOVA next week. It wants a report on possible ties between Pirc Musar and Russian intelligence, according to the outlet.

Slovenian lawmaker Žan Mahnič called on the government to stop providing the president with intelligence and security reports. He fears she may have ties to a Russian spy network.

The Slovenian president’s office has denied all the allegations.

Russian connection

The investigation followed reports about Pirc Musar’s longtime friend, Viktorija Krivolucka, a Russian-born Slovenian citizen.

At the end of July, the president was hospitalized with a broken collarbone after a car accident. Krivolucka was also in Pirc Musar’s official vehicle at the time.

Earlier this week, local media reported that Krivolucka had close ties to Roman Jeglic, a disgraced former Slovenian intelligence officer who fled to Russia in the mid-1990s.

Krivolucka later confirmed that she had been in a relationship with Jeglic and had lived with him in Russia for several years. However, she said she had not been in contact with him for more than 15 years.

Earlier, it was reported that three Bulgarians linked to a Russian spy network lived near the Northolt military facility in west London. British authorities arrested them.

In addition, a Russian spy network attempted to gather information in Romania about military exercises and aid to Ukraine. Members of the network entered the country posing as Ukrainian refugees.

It was also reported that Italy is expelling two Russian military attachés over their alleged involvement in espionage activities.
