Satellite images that were previously unavailable at the request of the US government have now fallen into the hands of journalists, who have seen for themselves that Tehran has begun resuming operations at its nuclear facilities. This happened after Iran and the United States signed a ceasefire agreement, according to CNN.

According to the network, these activities raise questions about whether Iran has violated the memorandum of understanding signed with the US in late June, even before President Trump appeared to signal its end by launching new strikes against the country.

New satellite images from June and July, analyzed by CNN in collaboration with the Institute for Science and International Security, show that Iran appears to have taken steps to repair and reconstruct facilities where enriched uranium may have been stored.

Temporary shelters were first built over the impact craters, and then, several weeks later, while the memorandum was still in effect, concrete mixers were spotted at the sites, and the shelters were removed and replaced with netting.

Experts say the trucks are a sign that the Iranians intend to seal the craters left by US and Israeli strikes. In recent weeks, vehicles have been clearly visible entering and exiting the tunnels near the facilities.

Specifically, this refers to a facility in the village of Parchin near Tehran (which was struck multiple times during the US campaign against Iran) and a facility known as Pickaxe Mountain.

After reviewing satellite images, journalists noted that other known nuclear facilities did not appear to be damaged and, as in Isfahan, activity by Iran’s missile forces was observed.

Background

A few months after the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and a series of mutual attacks, the US and Iran were finally able to sign a framework agreement that extended the ceasefire and paved the way for the parties to discuss all key issues to conclude a final agreement to end the war within 60 days.

However, attacks by both sides subsequently resumed. Yesterday, the US announced strikes on 90 military targets in Iran.

According to Axios, the US is preparing to resume mutual attacks with Iran over the Strait of Hormuz. The new military campaign could last anywhere from a few days to a month.
