A satellite has captured damaged Russian tankers in the Sea of Azov following a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack, according to Schemes, an investigative project of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
Images captured by the Planet Labs satellite on July 9 confirm successful strikes on Russia's shadow fleet. The images clearly show a fire on one of the tankers near the Kerch Strait.
About 10 kilometers away, another vessel can be seen with visible signs of damage.
Due to the limited resolution of the satellite images, specialists are not yet able to determine with certainty the class and type of the damaged Russian vessels.

On the night of July 9, Ukraine's Defense Forces struck Russian ships, an oil terminal, and an ammunition depot. In particular, hit 12 vessels of the Russian fleet in the waters of the Sea of Azov.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously said that Russia had effectively lost control of the situation in the Black Sea. During his meeting with military officials, a chart showing destroyed ships of Russia's Black Sea Fleet was visible.
Meanwhile, the UK Ministry of Defense reported that Russia's Black Sea Fleet has begun fitting submarines with protective cages in an attempt to shield them from drone attacks.
