Samsung Galaxy S24 sent to space to take photos of Earth at altitude of 36 km
Samsung showcases the extraordinary capabilities of the Galaxy S24 Ultra camera by adapting the smartphone for aerial photography, according to PetaPixel.
Experiment unveiled
During a unique experiment, Samsung attached four smartphones to a special structure suspended from stratospheric balloons.

The hydrogen-filled stratostats reached an altitude of nearly 37 kilometers, capturing images with the smartphones. At such heights, the curvature of the Earth is already visible.

These flights traversed various iconic Western US locations such as Southern California, Las Vegas, the Sierra Nevada, and the Grand Canyon. Over 150 shots were taken with varying focal lengths.

Upon completion of the shoot, the hydrogen was released from the stratostats, and they descended via parachutes. The special structure prevented damage to the smartphones during descent.
