Ukraine will continuously receive American weapons, funded by NATO countries under the PURL initiative, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated this in an interview with Fox News.

Rutte reminded that NATO countries have already allocated $2 billion for American weapons packages for Ukraine, with additional aid packages under consideration.

"So you will see a constant flow of American weapons into Ukraine, paid for by allies, and I think in conjunction with the sanctions, in conjunction with the 5 percent target, what we will overall spend as NATO on our collective defense, this big foreign policy success of President Trump at the The Hague Summit of NATO in June, this collectively puts the pressure on Russia to get serious and stop doing this," the Secretary General said.

Rutte also noted that Russia is currently losing in one month as many people as the Soviet Union lost in 10 years in Afghanistan.

"Can you imagine 10 years (in - ed.) Afghanistan, the same amount as now one month in Ukraine. This is getting crazy," he added.

PURL

The PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) mechanism is an initiative through which Ukraine receives American weapons. Their delivery is funded not by the US, but by its NATO allies.

Through this mechanism, Ukraine will, in particular, be able to receive critically important missiles for Patriot air defense systems, which are produced only in the United States.

On September 18, a NATO representative told RBC-Ukraine that Ukraine had already received the first American weapons under PURL.

The source also noted that even more military aid packages are on the way.
