Russians report new attack on Shaykovka airbase
Russians have reported a new attack on the Shaykovka strategic airbase in the Kaluga region of Russia. They are accusing Ukraine as usual, according to the Russian Telegram channel Mash.
Russian media claims that the attack was allegedly unsuccessful. According to the Russians, helicopters shot down a Ukrainian drone.
"The Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the strategic airbase Shaykovka in the Kaluga region. Unsuccessfully - according to our information, a Ukrainian drone kamikaze was intercepted and destroyed by Mi-28 helicopters," Russians wrote.
They claim this is the third attack on the Shaykovka airbase since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The first attempt was supposedly in October 2022, and the second in August 2023.
What Ukraine says about the attacks on Shaykovka
The Ukrainian military has not yet commented on the situation and the claims made by the Russians. However, it is known that in August 2023, Ukrainian defenders attacked the Shaykovka airbase in the Kaluga region.
A representative of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine confirmed this information in a comment to RBC-Ukraine. Intelligence did not specify what exactly was used, but it is known that there were several damaged units of enemy aviation equipment.
