Russians lose up to 1,000 soldiers daily near Avdiivka, Western states assessment
Russian losses in the war against Ukraine amount to up to 400,000 killed and wounded, with Russians losing up to 1,000 soldiers per day in the battles near Avdiivka, according to The Guardian.
According to Western officials, Russia's losses in the war against Ukraine range between 300,000 and 400,000 killed and wounded, and in the heaviest battles near Avdiivka, they lose between 500 and 1,000 per day.
According to anonymous sources, Ukraine's counteroffensive on the Zaporizhzhia front has essentially culminated, although three brigades are believed to have made it across the Dnipro River near Kherson.
"Neither side is capable of mounting a decisive operation on land," one of the officials said.
In his opinion, a "prolonged conflict" is likely to follow in which long-term U.S. and European military aid would be crucial.
A significant force, described as three brigades, had established a position across the Dnipro that the Russians had proved unable to dislodge, although it was unclear, the officials said, how much armor the Ukrainian military had been able to get across the river.
Frontline situation
According to the General Staff, Ukrainian defense forces continue assault operations south of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, conduct offensive operations on the Melitopol direction, and keep defense near Avdiivka. There were 65 combat clashes over the past day.
As noted by analysts from the Institute for the Study of War, the Ukrainian forces continued offensive actions on the Bakhmut direction, advanced southeast of Toretsk, and progressed in the west of the Zaporizhzhia region, attacking on the left bank of the Kherson region.
Russia's losses in the war as of November 16 amounted to 1,330 occupiers, with the total number of losses in the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion being 315,620 military personnel. The military also destroyed 36 artillery systems, 14 UAVs, and 40 pieces of automotive equipment.
