Russians launch missile and 80+ drones over Ukraine: Air defense respond
On the night of November 16, Russian forces launched 83 drones and an S-300 missile at Ukraine. Air defense systems shot down 53 UAVs, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On the night of November 16, Russian forces launched an S-300 missile and 83 Shahed-type drones, along with unidentified drones, from the Kursk, Orel, and Primorsk-Akhtarsk regions, targeting the Kharkiv region.
By 8:30 a.m., 53 enemy drones had been shot down across several regions, including Cherkasy, Odesa, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Khmelnytskyi.
As a result of active defense efforts, 30 drones were lost in various regions of Ukraine.
Russian attack on Kyiv
On the same night, Russian forces launched a combined missile and drone strike on Ukraine. Explosions were heard in Kyiv and the surrounding region, where air defense forces were active. Debris from falling drones damaged a residential building in the Obolon district.
Later reports confirmed that up to ten strike drones launched by Russian occupiers were intercepted in the airspace around Kyiv. Fortunately, there were no casualties from the attack.
