Russians halted pensions for Ukrainians in occupation without Russian passport - NRC
Russia continues to use repressive methods to control the local population in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. In particular, the enemy has introduced pension-related coercion, reports the National Resistance Center (NRC).
According to the information resource, since the beginning of 2025, the Russian authorities have completely stopped paying monthly pension benefits to individuals who have not obtained a Russian passport. This decision directly affects residents of the occupied eastern and southern regions of Ukraine.
"Pension blackmail is a disgraceful form of financial pressure, serving as yet another step in the Kremlin’s campaign of forced passportization, which it systematically imposes on the local population across all TOTs," the statement reads.
The National Resistance Center (NRC) noted that by issuing Russian passports, the occupiers pursued the main goal of presenting residents of the occupied territories as citizens of Russia, thereby justifying their crimes before the international community.
"Additionally, authorities exploit this process to gain unauthorized access to personal data, further tightening control over the population and suppressing the Ukrainian resistance movement," the CNS added.
The information resource emphasized that such measures by the Kremlin are further evidence of the criminal policy aimed at depriving Ukrainians of their rights and freedoms.
Earlier this month, on January 5, the so-called register of controlled individuals was launched in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The Russians are adding Ukrainians who have not obtained a Russian passport to this register.
Additionally, it became known at the beginning of 2025 that starting from February 5, residents of the temporarily occupied territories will no longer be able to marry without a Russian passport.
