Russians export $1 billion worth grain from cccupied regions, Ukrainian PM
Russians have exported at least 1 billion dollars worth of grain from the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine, according to Denys Shmyhal, the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
"The occupiers have prepared the technical means to steal and export 12,000 tonnes of grain from the occupied territories daily. They succeeded only partially, as the heroic resistance of Ukrainians forced the enemy to retreat. However, the amount of stolen goods is impressive - millions of tonnes of grain worth about USD 1 billion. The plundering of Ukraine by Russia continues even now," the Head of Government noted.
Despite this, Ukraine will continue to be one of the guarantors of global food security.
The Prime Minister expects this year's harvest in Ukraine to reach 79 million tons, which is 10% more than last year.
He also reported that 170,000 tons of food have already been dispatched to Ethiopia, Somalia, and Kenya through the presidential initiative, Grain from Ukraine. An additional 25,000 tons of food are presently being readied for transport to Nigeria.
Russia is unlawfully taking Ukrainian grain
Russian troops and affiliated businessmen are taking agricultural products from the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine.
In the past year alone, dozens of ships containing grain were exported from the occupied areas, and the resulting profits were used to fund the ongoing conflict.
Ukraine's Ambassador to Turkey Vasyl Bodnar has reported that Russia has already removed 500,000 tons of grain from the occupied Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. The occupying forces are utilizing several Syrian and domestic vessels to transport the stolen goods.
Additionally, the Ukrainian Security Service discovered two purported ministers in Crimea who are assisting in the theft of Ukrainian grain from the temporarily occupied southern territories.
