Russians drop explosives on car in Kherson region, killing civilians

On the morning of Wednesday, August 13, Russian forces attacked a civilian car traveling on a highway in the Beryslav district with a drone. Two people were killed in the explosion, Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, reports.
Around 8 a.m. local time, the enemy dropped explosives from a drone onto a vehicle traveling on the Novoraisk-Kostyrka highway.
"Due to the attack, a man and a woman were killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones," the statement says.
Shelling of Kherson and region
Russian forces regularly use drones to attack civilian infrastructure and transport, especially in the frontline areas of the Kherson region.
However, the left-bank part of the Kherson region remains under Russian occupation. The Russian army shells Kherson and other settlements on the right bank of the Dnipro daily.
This morning, Russian troops shelled Chornobaivka in the Kherson region with artillery. A local woman was killed, and her house was completely destroyed.
Last week, Russian forces struck the Ostrivskyi Bridge with guided aerial bombs for three consecutive days. Following this, local authorities expanded the evacuation zone for residents of the Korabel, Yantarnyi-1, and Yantarnyi-2 neighborhoods, as well as all streets located closer to the Dnipro River.
The Russians have also tripled the number of assaults on the islands near Kherson.
Media outlets suggest that the goal of the attacks may be to destroy the bridge and attempt a landing in Kherson's Korabel district to recapture the city. At the same time, Ukraine's Defense Forces consider such a development unlikely.
