Russians conduct forced conscription for military service in occupied Ukrainian territories
From October 1 to December 31, 2024, the Russian occupation authorities conducted forced conscription of residents of the temporarily occupied territories of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions of Ukraine, according to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
During this period, about 300 people were called up for military service.
Russians are forcing Ukrainians under the age of 60 to register for military service. In case of refusal, the Russians threaten to dismiss them and further restrict their employment.
“In addition, Russia is trying to recruit residents to serve in the armed forces of Russia under contract. In particular, the occupation administration in Luhansk region promises 2.5 million rubles for signing such a contract,” the Ukrainian intelligence adds.
Defense Intelligence of Ukraine recalls that international humanitarian law prohibits the mobilization of residents of the occupied territories into the army of the occupying country, as this is a gross violation of human rights.
The British Ministry of Defense has warned of Russia's intentions to conduct so-called conscription in the temporarily occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia region to spread its influence.
