Russian forces attempted to advance near Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia region, but all enemy attacks were repelled by Ukrainian defenders, said the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Administration, Ivan Fedorov, during a national TV marathon broadcast.
"A few days ago, the enemy attempted to launch an offensive on the outskirts of Orikhiv. Thanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy failed to achieve its goal, although the assault was quite massive – the enemy used a large amount of equipment and personnel, but had no success," Fedorov said.
According to him, the 65th and 118th Brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine took part in repelling the attack. He also noted that preparations for this attempted offensive had been underway for quite a long time – not just one day or even one week.
In total, the Russians used about 10–11 armored vehicles, two tanks, up to 10 motorcycles, and around 120 personnel. Another distinguishing feature was that the offensive came in ten waves.
However, Ukrainian intelligence detected enemy movements in advance and struck them several kilometers before the line of engagement.
"The pilots 'sketched' this picture and worked it over with artillery and FPV drones, and later the Vampire also worked on the tank," clarified a soldier with the call sign Forest.
The serviceman suggested that this attack was of a reconnaissance nature – the enemy tried to identify weak points in the Ukrainian defense but was defeated.
"Almost along the entire section, the enemy was destroyed 3–5 kilometers before the line of contact. The kill zone worked," he added.
Russian losses
From February 24, 2022, to October 24, 2025, the total estimated losses of Russian troops amounted to about 1,135,080 personnel. In total, over the past day alone, Russian forces lost 910 soldiers.
Ukrainian forces also destroyed one tank, five armored combat vehicles, 34 artillery systems, a multiple launch rocket system, 440 uncrewed aerial vehicles, and 128 units of enemy motor vehicles.
