The Russian army attacked Kharkiv on Sunday, January 5. The occupiers launched a strike with a Molniya drone, informs Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov on Telegram.

Since the beginning of the day, an air alert has been declared four times in Kharkiv. The last one was at 14:54.

Reports of explosions in Kharkiv circulated online. The mayor confirmed the strike on the city.

"We had a UAV strike, presumably from a Molniya. It hit the border of the Kyiv and Saltivskyi districts," said Terekhov.

According to him, there were no casualties.

According to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, a private house in Kharkiv was damaged as a result of a UAV strike.

Night drone attack by Russian forces

On the night of January 5, Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine with drones. They launched 103 UAVs from three directions: Bryansk, Millerovo, and Orel.

Air defense forces destroyed 61 drones. Anti-aircraft defense worked in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, and Khmelnytskyi regions. Another 42 enemy drone decoys were lost in location.

Due to the enemy attack, private homes in Kharkiv region were damaged, and three people were injured.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the drones used in the attack contained 8,755 components of foreign origin.
