Russia launches over 100 drones at Ukraine - How many shot down
Russian forces launched 103 drones from three directions towards Ukraine on the night of January 5. Air defense shot down more than half of them, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On the night of January 5, the enemy launched 103 Shahed-type strike UAVs and various types of imitation drones from the directions of Bryansk, Millerovo, and Orel, according to the report.
How air defense worked The airstrike was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Force, and the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
"By 9:00, 61 Shahed-type strike drones and other types of UAVs have been confirmed as shot down," the military reported.
Air defense worked in the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, and Khmelnytsky regions.
Additionally, 42 enemy imitation drones were lost at specific locations.
Russian attacks on Ukraine
In the Kharkiv region, a Shahed drone attacked the village of Krasnokutsk. As a result of the drone hitting the road, four private houses and a fence were damaged. Three people were also injured.
Moreover, Russia dropped a bomb on a residential high-rise building in the Sumy region on January 4. It was reported almost immediately that children were among the wounded, and people may have been trapped under the rubble.
Later, the number of injured rose to five. According to the latest information, 10 people were injured as a result of the strike on the high-rise building in the Sumy region.
