Russian military launched drone strikes on grain storage facilities and a production-reloading complex in the Odesa region on the night of August 23, according to the Odesa City Council.

Russian military launched drones from the eastern coast of the Sea of Azov. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted and destroyed 9 drones of the Shahed-136/131 type, but some of them managed to hit their targets.

"The enemy targeted grain storage facilities and a production-reloading complex in Podunavya. A fire broke out in warehouse premises, but has been quickly contained. Firefighters continue to work at the scene," the statement said.

Fortunately, there were no civilian casualties reported.

Targeting grain infrastructure

After Russia withdrew from the "grain deal," they have been actively targeting Ukrainian ports and grain infrastructure.

On August 16, Russian forces once again launched an attack on the south of Ukraine using Shahed drones. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully shot down 13 enemy drones over the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions, although some managed to cause damage.

In particular, one of the drones struck the port of Reni, resulting in a fire and significant damage to the facility.
