On the night of April 2, a major fire broke out at an oil refinery in Ufa, Russia, following a drone attack, according to the Telegram channels Exilenova+ and Astra.
Residents reported on social media that they were awakened by the sounds of explosions. After that, a fire broke out in one of the districts in the city’s industrial zone.
Due to the threat of drones, an air danger alert was declared in Ufa, and operations at the local airport were temporarily suspended.
The head of Bashkortostan confirmed the attack.
According to him, several drones were shot down as they approached the oil refineries; debris from one fell in the industrial zone, and there were no casualties. Firefighters are currently extinguishing the blaze at the facility.
According to a volunteer and advisor to the Defense Minister of Ukraine, Serhii Sternenko, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Bashneft-Novoyl oil refinery. This is about 1,400 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.
Preliminary reports indicate that the key primary oil refining unit, AVT-5, is on fire.

The facility is part of one of Russia’s largest oil refining hubs and processes oil from Western Siberia, Bashkir oil, and gas condensate.
Attacks on Ufa refinery
This is not the first time the oil refinery in Bashkortostan has been targeted. In particular, a previous strike was recorded on March 23.
Additionally, on the night of October 15, as well as in September, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR) attacked this refinery. After the strikes, explosions were heard, and a massive fire broke out.
The facility is located approximately 1,400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
RBC-Ukraine previously revealed footage of the moment of the attack, captured by residents, as well as the aftermath of the strikes on the Russian facility.
