Russian troops tried to break through to Stepnohirsk in Zaporizhzhia region: None of them returned

A Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group attempted to break into Stepnohirsk in the Zaporizhzhia region on the night of July 24–25. However, the Russian troops’ attempt failed with bad consequences for them, according to Southern Defense Forces spokesperson Vladyslav Voloshyn during a national telethon live broadcast.
"On the Huliaipole direction, the enemy is currently regrouping forces and equipment, and in the near future, we expect it to resume active assault operations," Voloshyn stated.
According to the spokesperson, the situation is currently severe near the settlement of Kamianske, in the Orikhiv direction. The Russian troops are trying to consolidate their positions in Kamianske and advance toward Stepnohirsk.
"Just last night, an enemy sabotage group attempted to break into Stepnohirsk, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped this attempt — it proved unsuccessful," Voloshyn noted.
Ukrainian troops are holding the northern outskirts of Kamianske. The Russian forces are trying to dislodge the Ukrainians using artillery shelling and air strikes. In particular, they are bombing the settlement of Plavni near Kamianske.
The Russian troops aim to enter Stepnohirsk, at least to capture its southern outskirts first. This was exactly what the Russian sabotage group tried to do during the night.
"There is multi-story housing in the southern part of Stepnohirsk, providing shelter for assault and sabotage groups, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed this group," Voloshyn concluded.
Situation on the front – July 25
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during the past day, July 24, there were 174 combat clashes on the front. The most intense fighting was recorded in the Pokrovsk and Lyman directions. During the day, the Russian army reportedly lost about 980 personnel during assault attempts.
In Zaporizhzhia, the enemy has focused efforts on capturing Kamianske and Stepnohirsk. This would allow the Russian forces to shell the southern districts of Zaporizhzhia with field artillery and launch FPV drone terror against the city.
