Russian forces in the Pokrovsk direction continue attempts to advance toward the highway to Dnipro. Russia aims to bring it under fire control and eventually seize physical control, according to Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Khortytsia operational-strategic grouping of troops.

According to Trehubov, if the Russian army's offensive continues at its current pace, it is unlikely that they will be able to seize the highway.

"They are simply grinding down their forces there and exhausting them both quantitatively and qualitatively," the spokesperson noted.

He stated that Russian troops are currently advancing quite actively in the direction of Pishchane.

"Right now, the Russians are complaining that they are already running out of personnel, which sounds unbelievable for Russia. They are also complaining that Ukrainian drones dominate the airspace in that sector and that their guided bombs (KABs) have become less effective. As a result, this leads to high Russian casualties and an inability to effectively advance in the direction they had planned," Trehubov added.

Situation in the Pokrovsk direction

In recent months, the Russian troops have been attempting to break through defenses in the Pokrovsk direction. This sector remains one of the most challenging parts of the front.

According to Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Khortytsia operational-strategic grouping of troops, Russian forces are trying to bypass Pokrovsk from the south. Their tactic is to cut off Ukrainian troops from supply lines.

At the same time, the pace of the Russian advance in the Pokrovsk direction has recently slowed. One of the reasons for this is the effective defensive operations of Ukrainian forces in this sector.
