Russia uses all means to make money. An example of this is the tanker disaster in the Black Sea, stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"Everyone can now see the consequences of the disaster in the Black Sea - the fuel oil polluting the coastline. Russia is using extremely old vessels, some as old as 50 years, exploiting anything it can just to make money," Zelenskyy said.

The President emphasized that Russia's use of outdated tankers poses a significant threat, both in terms of financing its war efforts and the environmental damage it causes.

"No sea in the world - whether the Black Sea, Azov Sea, Baltic Sea, or North Sea - deserves this level of harm from Russia's presence. The fuel oil in the Black Sea is now a problem for local people, and Putin is doing nothing about it. He’s only focused on his old Oreshniks and other madness," Zelenskyy added.

The President that everything possible should be done to force Russia to real peace and accountability for its actions as soon as possible.

What happened before

About a week ago, two Russian tankers, Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239, sank in the Kerch Strait due to a severe storm. A few days later, it was reported that another tanker had crashed near the Kavkaz port in the Black Sea.

As a result of these accidents, fuel oil leaks were reported. Read more about what happened to the Russian tankers near Crimea and whether there are any threats to Ukraine in the material by RBC-Ukraine.
