Russian subversive and reconnaissance groups continue to try to cross the border of Ukraine in the Sumy region and mine the area, says Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

According to Demchenko, attempts of Russian subversive reconnaissance groups to cross the border continue. Russia is most active in the north of Sumy region. However, there is a risk of subversive reconnaissance groups' attempts in other parts of the border with Russia within the region.

One of the Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups was actually detected in the Sumy region. In this regard, Russia will continue to use various tactics to try to enter Ukrainian territory.

As the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine spokesperson explained, Russian subversive reconnaissance groups are trying to expose the construction of Ukrainian defense, as well as to strike at Ukrainian positions or mine the area.

At the same time, in the direction of Novenke and Zhuravka, Russia is using small assault groups to amass forces on the territory of Ukraine and expand the area of active hostilities. Ukrainian Defense Forces, in turn, are destroying infantry groups that have entered Ukrainian territory or are on the outskirts of the border.

Situation in Sumy region

At the end of February, information appeared on the Internet that Russia had allegedly broken through the border in the village of Novenke, but this was later denied. According to Demchenko, Russia is trying to expand the area of active hostilities on the border of the region. In particular, the Russians are sending small assault groups towards Novenke, trying to gain a foothold in these positions.
