Russian forces attacked the Kyiv region on the evening of June 11, targeting an infrastructure facility, Viktoriia Ruban, spokesperson for the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Kyiv region, said in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.

According to her, the attack triggered a fire at the facility.

Ruban said the consequences of the strike were recorded in the Boryspil district. Videos circulating online show a large column of smoke rising into the sky following the Russian attack.

No further details about the incident have been released so far.

New targets for Russian strikes

Earlier, analysts from the US-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) warned that the Kremlin may expand its list of targets for winter attacks in Ukraine.

In addition to energy facilities, potential targets could include railway hubs aimed at disrupting supply chains, as well as water infrastructure facilities.

According to Western experts, Russia is also facing significant financial difficulties. The country’s federal budget deficit reached $81.4 billion during the first five months of 2026, while oil and gas revenues fell by nearly 30%.

Amid heavy battlefield losses that exceed recruitment rates, the Kremlin is reportedly searching for new ways to replenish manpower, including introducing student mobilization quotas at regional educational institutions.
