Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia: Two children killed
Russian military forces launched an attack on Zaporizhzhia late yesterday. According to reports, two children were among the fatalities caused by the strike, Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration (OVA), and Regina Kharchenko, acting mayor of Zaporizhzhia report.
"Among the dead are two children. Identification of the victims killed in the Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia is ongoing," Fedorov stated.
The OVA head explained that the strike targeted a busy area where people were simply returning home on Friday evening.
"Twenty-six people were injured, and 10 were killed. Their identities are currently being established. Preliminary data indicates that two of the victims were children," Fedorov emphasized.
Meanwhile, acting mayor Regina Kharchenko reported that both deceased girls were students at Zaporizhzhia Gymnasium No. 93.
"Russia is killing our children. The world must respond," Kharchenko stressed.
Details of the Zaporizhzhia attack
On December 6, Russian forces struck Zaporizhzhia, destroying a car repair shop in the process.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also responded to the attack.
The rescue operation in Zaporizhzhia concluded around midnight. Earlier reports indicated that the number of injured from the airstrikes had risen to 25.
