Russian strike on warehouses in Kyiv region kills 27, injures over 40

As a result of a Russian strike on warehouses in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region, followed by an explosion on the evening of August 28, 27 people were killed. Over 40 people are also reported to have been injured, according to Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.
As of now, emergency rescue and firefighting operations are underway at the site. Work is being carried out to dismantle structures, extinguish fires, conduct search and rescue operations, and inspect the buildings and surrounding area.
"Unfortunately, as of now, 27 people are known to have been killed. And this number may not be final. I extend my sincere condolences to the families and loved ones," Tkachenko says.
In addition, 42 people, including 4 children, sustained injuries of varying severity. All received qualified medical care, and 7 of the injured were hospitalized.
A total of 381 people, including 59 children, were evacuated from the emergency zone. An emergency response headquarters has been set up in Dmytrivka to handle requests from residents. Hot meals and psychological support are also available at the headquarters.
An assessment of the damage to the community is ongoing. Currently, about 50 residential buildings are known to have sustained damage of varying degrees. Temporary housing is available for those whose homes were damaged.
Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy heard reports from Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhii Koretskyi and Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Vyhivskyi.

According to him, those responsible for this must be held accountable for their decisions. Investigators from the National Police of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) are conducting a pre-trial investigation, and criminal proceedings have been opened under the article on official negligence.
"There are regulations in place – ammunition cannot be stored near homes or other residential areas. Appropriate conclusions will certainly be drawn," the President emphasizes.
Russian strike on warehouses in Kyiv region
On the evening of August 28, a fire broke out in warehouse facilities in the Bucha district of the Kyiv Region as a result of a Russian attack. The fire was accompanied by explosions and subsequent detonations. There are reports of numerous fatalities and injuries.
Due to the massive fire, traffic was temporarily blocked for all vehicles on a section of the M-06 Kyiv–Chop highway between the 15th and 32nd kilometers.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi has already responded to the Russian strike. He stated that the recent tragedy in Vyshneve had not served as a lesson, thereby implying that the Russians could have targeted a military depot in the village of Myla.
The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation in the Bucha district, where a detonation occurred on the premises of the enterprise following the Russian strike. In particular, the legality of the storage of explosive materials will be examined.
