Russian strike on residential building in Kharkiv: Death toll rises
Russia killed 3 people in an attack on a high-rise building on October 30. These are a man and 2 teenagers, according to the spokesperson for the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, Dmytro Chubenko, the mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, and the Prosecutor General's Office.
Thus, the body of a killed man of about 25-30 years old was found under the rubble on the first floor.
“There were no statements from relatives or friends about him. We are establishing his identity,” said Dmytro Chubenko, a spokesperson for the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The unblocking of a 15-year-old boy trapped under the rubble is also underway.
“We have identified the place where the body of another child killed by Russian bombs is located under the rubble. Work is underway to unblock it,” said Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
3 killed
The death toll from the Russian shelling of a high-rise building in Kharkiv on October 30 has risen to 3.
“Rescuers have unblocked the bodies of a 15-year-old boy and a man from the rubble of the building. Another 35 people were injured in the attack,” the Prosecutor General's Office says after 2 p.m. Kyiv time.
There is a threat of collapse
Work is underway to clear the rubble at the Russian strike site.
“Special equipment designed specifically for such tasks is in operation. In particular, struts have been installed on the third floor to stabilize the structure and reduce the likelihood of collapse,” says Terekhov.
After all the rubble is dismantled, the specialists will start removing all the emergency structures and elements that could collapse.
“Only then will the building be examined to determine whether the damaged entrance can be repaired or not. The rest of the entrances already have heat and water. Work is underway to restore electricity. Utilities are closing the circuits,” the mayor adds.
Russian attack on Kharkiv
On October 30, Russian troops shelled Kharkiv again. A multi-storey building was hit and an entire entrance was destroyed. The impact was so strong that the possibility of collapse was not ruled out.
Initially, 7 people were reported injured. Later, the number of victims increased to 30 people, and a child was killed.
The rescue operation is ongoing. Rescuers are looking for people under the rubble. The difficulty lies in the fact that some of the destroyed apartments were rented out, so the exact number of people who may be under the rubble is unknown.
