Russian strike leaves 400,000 people in Kharkiv without electricity and heating - Zelenskyy

Hundreds of thousands of local residents in Kharkiv were left without electricity and heating as a result of a Russian strike, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Telegram.
Today, January 15, the head of the Ukrainian state held a conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. In particular, the president spoke about the situation in Kharkiv.
"They (Russia - ed.) attacked Kharkiv earlier today, and immediately 400,000 people were left without heating and electricity," Zelenskyy said.
Strike on an energy facility in Kharkiv
Today, January 15, Russian forces struck Kharkiv with ballistic missiles.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said the strikes hit the city’s outskirts.
Later, Terekhov reported that a major energy facility in the city was destroyed as a result of the Russian attack.
For his part, Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov said that the scale of the destruction and the consequences of the strikes are being assessed.
According to the mayor, measures were taken after the attack to minimize the impact.
Syniehubov also noted that scheduled power outages continue in Kharkiv and the region.
As of January 15, the most difficult situation with electricity remains in Kyiv. During the latest large-scale strikes, Russian forces damaged energy facilities in the capital.
