Russian strike damages bus full of children in Ukraine's Odesa region

A bus carrying children was damaged by a blast wave during a Russian attack on the Odesa region in Ukraine, reports Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi.
Bus carrying children targeted, strike on Odesa
During a second Russian attack on Odesa in the afternoon on August 9, a blast wave damaged a bus carrying 12 children.
According to law enforcement officials, no one suffered serious injuries. One child sustained minor scratches.
Meanwhile, authorities continue documenting the aftermath of Russia's overnight strike on the city. Residential buildings, a hotel, and civilian and energy infrastructure were damaged.
Medical assistance is being provided to all those affected, while police are taking reports from residents about property damage.

Rescuer killed in Zaporizhzhia region
The situation also remains difficult in other regions of the country due to repeated Russian strikes.
National Police reported that firefighter and rescuer Oleksandr Prodan was killed during another attack in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Two more State Emergency Service employees were injured and hospitalized.
Aftermath of Russian strikes in Kharkiv and Chernihiv region
Emergency and rescue operations are continuing in Kharkiv, where a Russian strike damaged a residential high-rise building. Nearly 40 people have been reported injured so far.
In the first minutes after the strike, police and State Emergency Service crews evacuated residents, including a family with an infant and a man in a wheelchair.
A mobile service center of the Interior Ministry is operating at the scene to quickly replace lost documents.
Also in the morning on August 9, Russian forces struck the Semenivka community in the Chernihiv region with a drone. The strike was recorded near a local store.
Police officers used a service vehicle to evacuate three injured civilians to a hospital.
Aftermath of Russia's massive assault on Ukraine
The overnight and daytime attacks on Ukraine on August 9 marked another wave of Russia's deliberate strikes against the country's civilian and energy infrastructure.
The Russian military launched a massive missile attack and sent more than 200 drones toward several regions of Ukraine. The attack caused significant damage to energy infrastructure in Odesa, leaving parts of the city and region without power, while restoration work is expected to take considerable time.
Other regions were also targeted, including Kharkiv, where a strike hit a residential high-rise building, and the Dnipropetrovsk region, where a shopping center in Pavlohrad was targeted.
