Russian shrapnel-filled drones hit high-rise in Ukraine's Cherkasy region, injuring civilians

On the night of August 14, a Russian drone carrying shrapnel struck a high-rise building in Smila, Cherkasy region. There are casualties, according to Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
"A Russian drone loaded with shrapnel struck a high-rise building," Taburets says.
According to him, the city was attacked on the night of August 14. The residents of the apartment that was at the epicenter of the strike were not at home at the time of the Russian attack.
Five people were injured as a result of the Russian attack. Ambulance crews provided them with medical assistance, but all refused hospitalization.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the nine-story residential building sustained damage and a fire broke out. Rescuers evacuated 10 residents of the building, and psychologists assisted 23 people who survived the Russian strike. Photos circulating from the scene show the building's partially burned-out facade.
Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control, but one of the building's entrances sustained significant damage.
Russian strikes on Ukraine continue
On the night of August 14, Russia attacked Ukraine with 112 drones from five different directions simultaneously.
Ukrainian air defense forces shot down or neutralized 90 Russian drones, and strikes were recorded at 11 locations.
Meanwhile, earlier that same morning, a Russian strike on a house in the Sumy region claimed the lives of a woman and her 9-year-old son.
Four more people were injured; two of them, suffering from severe burns, were hospitalized.
