Russian forces attacked Mykolaiv with drones on the morning of February 18. Damage to homes in the private residential sector has already been reported, according to the city’s mayor, Vitalii Kim.

“Mykolaiv. As a result of the Shahed drone attack, there is damage to houses in the private sector. As of now, there are no casualties,” the mayor said.

Kim had reported groups of drones moving toward Mykolaiv the previous evening. Ukraine’s Air Force, in turn, said at 12:12 a.m. Kyiv time that groups of UAVs were heading toward the Mykolaiv region from the south, and at 1:17 a.m. that additional drones were also approaching the regional center from the south.

According to Ukraine’s military Air Force, the enemy also attacked the country with guided aerial bombs overnight. Russian forces used the strikes in the Zaporizhzhia region, Sumy region, Chernihiv region, Kharkiv region, and other areas.

Attacks on the Mykolaiv region

The Mykolaiv area frequently comes under enemy fire. For example, RBC-Ukraine recently reported explosions in the city amid an air-raid alert.

There have also been cases when the region was left without electricity due to shelling by Russian forces. Last month, for instance, Russian troops carried out a massive attack in the Mykolaiv region, plunging part of a district into a blackout.

Reports have further described incidents in which people in Mykolaiv and the surrounding region were left in critical condition after Russian strikes, with some fatalities recorded. One such attack caused numerous injuries as a result of Russian shelling.
